Missouri River

The Missouri is basically like a huge spring creek. The techniques and opportunities for big fish on small flies make this one of Montana’s most famous rivers. Insect hatches are prolific due to the Missouri River’s extraordinary fertility. Craig, Montana has long been noted as a Montana fly fishing Mecca. The Missouri fishery starts right below Holter Dam in Wolf Creek, Montana and extends north to Cascade, Montana. Drift boat fishing is a great way to fish the Missouri River and offers spectacular scenery while traveling the same water Lewis and Clark navigated during their expedition west.

Linehan Outfitting Company Missouri River Trips: Mid-May to Mid-June

Fly into Helena or Great Falls.  Either one is only about 40 minutes from Craig, MT which is where we base.

Our Missouri River Spring Fling has become very popular and it’s an awesome fishery.  The LOC crew spends mid-May through mid-June over there.  It’s primarily nymphing but we always rig up a dry fly rod because there are always a few noses around.  It’s stunning big sky country and due to early season, the crowds are actually minimal considering how famous the river is and its location.  Craig, Montana is a little fly fishing Mecca.

Please be aware that LOC is responsible for and provides only your guide service.  You will book your lodging separately and independently.  We are certainly happy to help you select lodging that includes motels, hotels, lodges, and rental homes and cabins.
